Silja Lahtinen was born in Finland. She exhibits frequently in the US and in Europe. During the winter she works in her Atlanta Georgia studio; in the summer she works in Finland.
In her work the artist deals with the ideas inspired by her Finnish, Lapland and Karelian roots, the wonders of the Nordic summer, the blue lakes, the green forests, and the Shamanic power of animals. With the tools she expresses human emotions.
Her current exhibition is entitled New Americans at Spruill Center Gallery, Atlanta, GA. Sponsored by the Coca Cola Company, June 14 - August 23, 1996. The show belongs to the Cultural Olympics Program.
