My name is Karine Donnay. I was born in 1967. I live in Nevers (France).
I have always been keen on working with my hands and I started by enamelling as the XIIIth century Byzantine glass workers.
In 2008 I began my first acrylic paintings with invitations to travel but the encounter of the Maine Coon, the largest domestic cat, changed my life.
Since the arrival of my two little felines, I've observed them, noticed each day their attitudes to capture the tiniest detail. Naturally I started to draw their portrait but always with the same obsession: to convey their animal soul.
It is in this medium, so sensual and subtle, letting my senses guide my hands in the movement of their fur that I try to sublimate my subject so as to make the public feel this animal soul which is in each one of us.
