A Palm Coast, Florida and Huntington, Connecticut commuter, Thom maintains two studios. A prolific international workshop instructor and coordinator of most creative multimedia workshops for the past 40 years, he is listed in 'Who's Who Among America's Teachers,' and is a member of the prestigious Silvermine Guild Arts Center in New Canaan, Connecticut (The oldest fine arts guild in the USA begun by Solon Borglum). His awards and distinctions are numerous. He is represented in many corporate collections, museums (including the Smithsonian), and numerous private and international collections. In addition, Thom has co-exhibited with fellow artists David Hockney, Robert Kaupelis, Louise Nevelson, Kenneth Noland and Frank Stella.

"As an artist, Anastasio has always had an affinity with abstract painting, even if that attraction usually found expression through using representational imagery to interface with abstraction rather than going beyond it. In recent years, there has been much experimentation with handmade papers and Sumi-e inks. The effect is achieved not by a reductive gestural approach, but by staining with imported inks layer upon layer of paper producing a perceived translucency. Gold for him signifies infinite permanence. The use of text (Proverbs) into the actual surface of his painting , as in the colophons of Eastern art though equally inspired by William Blake and the Western tradition of illuminated manuscript. The grid pattern is both intuitive and symbolic. This gesture remains the source of the unknowable in future works."
