July 23rd 2005 - August 20th 2005
July 23rd, from 3 - 8 p.m.
Ward Nasse Gallery is pleased to announce the first one-person show of the Swiss painter Gobal at Ward-Nasse Gallery. The artist has exhibited extensively in Europe and has participated in several group shows at the Ward-Nasse Gallery since 1999. He is a winner of the Isabelle Roessler Serex Award.
After working in different media, Gobal found his unique personal style. Gobal's work does not belong to a certain art movement and is not influenced by a particular artist. Gobal uses black outlines which divide, sketch, and animate different objects. He also uses are blue, red, ochre and brown.
His fascinating portraits with penetrating looks are filled with tenderness, but also express melancholy. Other works are amusing and humorous. Gobal's portraits of people and cats look similar at first but they never express the same emotion. Gobal gives a soul to his portraits thanks to his deep sensitivity.
Please join us at the opening reception at the Ward-Nasse Gallery on Saturday, July 23rd, 2005 from 3-7 p.m. The artist will be present.
This exhibition takes place at the Ward-Nasse Gallery, 178 Prince Street, between Thompson and Sullivan. For more information, please contact: Biliana Videnova at 212 925 6951
