Barbara Arner/ Expressions in Clay
Ward-Nasse Gallery is pleased to announce "Expressions in Clay", Barbara Arner's first solo exhibition at the gallery. The opening reception will be on Saturday August 7th 2004, from 3-7 p.m.
As an art student in Florence, Italy, at Studio Art Centers International, under the instruction of ceramic artist Lisa Nocentini, Barbara Arner was introduced to the potter's wheel. Throughout the years she has developed a unique style that represents expressions of herself and her life experience. These take the form of abstract vessels as well traditional pottery forms. From life's experiences, the abstract forms express the darkness of pain, hurt and sadness she has felt. On the other hand, the bright colorful pottery represents the light, joy and love for life she feels today.
Currently, the artist enjoys continuing her learning about ceramic art and abstract expressive ceramic artwork by working on the potter's wheel. She works in white stoneware clay, uses a variety of light and dark color glazes, and fires in her electric kiln.
The exhibition will remain open until Sunday August 29, 2004. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This exhibition is located at the Ward-Nasse Gallery 178 Prince Street New York NY 10011
