Ward-Nasse Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition of new works by the Japanese ceramic artist Maki Sakusabe. This first show of Maki Sakusabe's work at Ward-Nasse Gallery is also her first show in the United States.
The Tokyo born artist studied ceramics at Atelier "Hikosen". She opened gallery " Hana" in Tokyo, where she started selling her own ceramics works. In 1998 Maki Sakusabe incorporated Hidarimaki Studio in Mitaka, Tokyo. That was followed by opening her own ceramics school called " Hidarimaki Sudio Ceramics School in 2000. After her New York exhibition Maki Sakusabe plans an exhibition at Mitaka Art Gallery in Tokyo.
In the exhibition at Ward-Nasse Gallery, which is going to be on view from May 1st through May 30th 2004, the artist concentrates on the expression of water and beautiful colors and sounds it creates from its surroundings. The artist tries to connect her works as strong as possible to nature and invites the viewers to feel the water flowing through her works. In her future exhibitions she plans to develop various expressions of water.
